Optimizing your return on a cash back card starts with putting all your purchases on your reward card. From small purchases at Starbucks to your cable bill to your new flat screen TV, everything you buy adds up.

Next, find cards that match your spending habits. Do you eat out a lot? Find a card that pays well at restaurants. Do you buy a lot of gas? Many cash back cards offer 2% or better on fill-ups.
