Step 2: Configure Your Ripping Preferences

In the Windows Media Player main window, go to the "Tools" menu and select the "Options..." menu item. If you don't see a menu bar along the top of Windows Media Player, you may need to enable it.

With the Options window showing, select the "Rip Music" tab in the Options dialog box. You should see the screen below.

If you see a "Copy Music" tab instead of a "Rip Music" tab, you need to upgrade to the latest version of Windows Media Player.
